VREF
The Volvo Research and Educational Foundations (VREF)
is a generic term for four independent foundations. For the
millennium the Board of VREF has initiated a new research
programme to be funded - Future Urban Transport (FUT).
The foundations commonly support the programme by
providing funds for research and educational projects.

FUT
The Future Urban Transport (FUT) programme intends to
create and promote structured actions and directions for
the development and implementation of essential
transport solutions for large urban areas. The current
program activities are mainly:
• Support to a number of globally distributed Centres of Excellence (CoE)
• Support to a somewhat larger number of Smaller Projects (SP)
• Organising recurring international FUT conferences
